The Gadget Guide Window

The Gadget Guide is where you tell Thinking Home what hardware you have installed in your home. It is also a great place to see what other hardware is available.

Gadget Guide Screen Capture

Gadgets list

A list of supported home automation controllers and devices, by Model Name, Part Number, and Manufacturer. When you click the Controllers tab, you see supported controllers; clicking on the Devices tab shows supported devices. When you see a controller or device you have installed in your home, you can drag it from this list to the Installed Hardware window.

When you add it to the Installed Hardware window, you’re telling Thinking Home what you have installed.

The Other tab has products related to Mac home automation that are not directly involved with controlling your devices.

Install button

Another way to add a controller or device that you have installed in your home to the Installed Hardware window is to press the Install button. When you select a controller or device you have installed in your home, you can click the Install button. This tells Thinking Home what you have installed.

Preview area

The Preview area displays additional information about the gadget selected in the list above. When you select a gadget, the model name, part number, and manufacturer are displayed. Also shown are the technology standard that it uses, a shopping link (to a web page where you may purchase it), a brief description of the gadget, and a picture.

For models with multiple pictures available, press the left and right arrows to browse each picture.
